Cancer Patients Gaining Benefits Through Social Support
cancer is a deadly disease. Cancer is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality which affects every parts of human system. Cancer is the abnormal growth and spreads nature of malignment cells. If not controlled it usually cause death but if treated early it frequent can be cured. Cancer cell develops because of damage to DNA. This substance is in every cell and all activities. Most of the time when DNA becomes damaged the body is able to repair it. In cancer cells the damaged DNA is not repaired. People can inherit damaged DNA, which accounts for inherited cancer. More often, though a person's DNA becomes damaged by exposure to something in the environment like smoking. Cancer usually forms a tumor. Some cancers like Leukemia do not form tumors. Instead, these cancer cells involve the blood and blood-forming organs and circulate through other tissue culture they grow. Cancer cell travels to other parts of the body where they begin to grow and replace normal tissues.
Different types of cancer can behave very differently. For example, lung cancer and breast cancer are very different diseases. They grow at different rates and responds to different treatments. That is why people with cancer need treatment aimed at their particular kind of cancer.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. Half of all men and one third of all women in the United States will develop cancer during their lifetimes. At present millions of people are living with cancer all have had cancer. This risk of developing most types of cancer can be reduced by changes in a person's lifestyle, for example by quitting, smoking and eating a better diet. The sooner a cancer is found and treatment begins, the better are the chances for living for many years.
Causes of Cancer
Tobacco: Tobacco is a substantially preventable cause of cancer. Alcohol: Conception of alcohol, especially more than a moderate level increases the risk of cancer. Industrial chemical: A number of industrial agents such as asbestos coals, tar chromate and pesticides are capable of contributing to cancer heredity. It increasing clear that a family history. Other causes: Food habits, obesity, ultraviolet radiation, stress and virus. Problems of cancer: Fear of death, changes as social role and lifestyle, interception of life plans, changes in body image and self esteem, money and legal concern.

- Provides acceptance or reassurance
- Allows for emotional ventilation
Risk of seeking social support
- Others will judge them negatively
- Confidentiality or privacy might be violated
- Others may be burdened – their resources of energy drained
- Others may have more influence than they wish

Cancer patients may be disturbed in many aspects of daily life. Traditionally has been sensing as the major support system for the cancer patients. For those who believe in modern treatment, the resources are in adequate to suffice the needs of the patients and it is the family, as a major support system that has to bear the heavy burden of causing for the affected member.
